I pulled the engine out of my 72 twice last winter. I take it your having trouble dis-connecting the axles.?
Have you removed the alternator? . It helps. Do you have the engine hanging at an angle?
I found it easier to remove the entire engine mount from the block entirely from the left ( driver's side ) and then just the main mount bolt from the right. I had removed my fuel pump and starter for prior work.
Make sure you drop the exhast pipes low enough to clear...
And after I changed the angle twice to get my engine out, I took a hack saw to the radiator brace and welded two steel angles to it and bolted it back on! A very popular modification, that makes itself eveident during removal. Any other questions ? Ask away ,many here have been there and done that! Do you have the service manual? It really helped me.
Tip: I placed plastic bags over the axle ends and transmision joints ASAP.
They caught the needle bearings and prevented dropping them to the garage floor.
Good Luck
Paul W.
