Mic is right...To elaborate: the foam has fabric on one side and attaches to the fiberglass roof on the other. The foam deteriorates to the point of dust. The foam is just toast. On my sonett ('69 V4) the headliner material was a thin foam-backed cloth material. It is widely availiable at fabric/foam stores. I think the Sonett III had a foam-backed vinyl headliner, so getting a perfect match for that will be tougher.
To fix the headliner, you'll want to remove the rollbar, mirror, and interior pieces above the doors. Then get a good scraper and scrape all the nasty rotten foam off the roof. This is REALLY messy and will put you in a really bad mood after having dry foam fall all in your face.
Cut the new headliner material as a rough cut (you can trim it later to fit perfectly) Then clean the roof with soapy water, let dry, and spray a small section of the roof and fabric at a time (moving from front to back) with SUPER 3M TRIM ADHESIVE. Do not get the regular 3M trim adhesive, the super stuff really is different. Having a friend help hold the headliner in place really helps. Once the headliner is on, cut the edges to the proper fit and hit them one more time with the 3M. Replacing the headliner takes ~3 hours.
