After surveying six Sonetts this is what I found: I measured three 74's, two 73's, and one 70. All except one of the 73's (the problem child) had a depth measurement from the top of the flange to the seal seating surface of 3/4 inch. The top of flange to the bottom of the outside of the flange where the cap screws on was 3/16 inch. For the problem car it was a depth of 13/16 inch (slightly deeper) and outside of flange of 5/32 (slightly less). Both would contribute to not seating properly. I found several different caps in place: AC model RC-12 (A3), Edelmann model ESP-9 7#, AC model RC-12 (L3), Stant model R-36 16#. I will stop by NAPA this afternoon and try one of the 703-1410 or 1411. Thanks for the help guys. Let me know if any of you are successful in solving the problem.
