Need Front Bearing Nut Tool Posted by patquin [Email] (#52) [Profile/Gallery] (more from patquin) on Tue, 17 Feb 2004 16:15:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm in the middle of changing out a set of bad front wheel bearings, and having gotten a packing-nut/shaft-seal off my parts car using a hammer and chisel, I don't want to mash up the same on my Sonett. These nuts werre installed at 130 ft-lbs, and after being in the car that number is going to be even higher. The manual says to use pegged key no. 784020 to back off the nut. That tool isn't shown in the official manual. I don't have the tool--surely someone can recommend a currently available tool I can buy or rent to back off the nut and replace it properly and professionally. A "C-type" wrench perhaps, or plans to take to a welding shop to make up the tool. I'd certainly be happy to trade a part to "rent" one for a while if that's what it takes. I can't drive to Carlisle this year without getting this fixed properly. Any help would be appreciated.
