correct fuel hose Posted by patquin [Email] (#52) [Profile/Gallery] (more from patquin) on Sun, 11 Apr 2004 13:46:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Went to the local parts store to replace the fuel hoses (the ones in the engine compartment, leading up to the carburetor, and found that the 1/4 inch ID hi pressure hose I bought is a very loose fit. Too loose for my taste. So what is the correct hose? Is it the 5.5 mm hose that is spec'd for some old VWs? Is there a good source for the hose?
The reason Im doing this is I'm smelling gasoline when I pull off the car cover; one clue is that the fuel filter above the fuel pump is empties back to the tank in a few hours (red herring?). So in step 1, I replaced the fuel pump (to no avail), so the next step it seems is to make sure the hoses are good.
Has anyone out there gone down this road before?
