Clutch Master Cylinder disassembly tip

Back in December I had to rebuild the clutch hydralics on a Sonnet III that I had just bought. The car had sat for 4 years and I was having a hard time getting the pistons out of the cylinders. I scronged up a fitting to fit the threads and drilled and taped it to take a grease fitting. Just hook up a grease gun and pump the cylinder full of grease and out comes the piston. Worked quite well on both the slave and master cylinders.
Today I did the same on a Sonett V4 that has sat for around 9 years. When I got the master clyinder off, it was full of a dry powdery substance, possably corrosion, but I poured a bunch out of the resorvoir. The piston was stuck at the bottom of the bore. I soaked it with WD40 for a while and got the grease gun out. I got the piston out, but keeping a tight seal at the cap was a problem. I also got a spare clyinder disassemblied as well. Anybody else out there got a good way to disassemble these clyinders that have been sitting for long periods?
