Just went through that on my 68 less than a year ago. I used a Weber 32/36. It was a very tight fit even using a low profile EMPI filter. The problem I ran into was not using a phanalic spacer for heat. My fuel began to boil as summer approached and cuased rather eratic performance. I replaced the motor mounts with low profile ones and was able to get the spacer in. Cured the problem. If you do go with lower mounts watch the bottom of the starter. I had to do a little grinding on the cross member. It also pinched some wires. I also cut my own bottom filter plate out of an extra top cover. This enabled me to place the filter as far back as possible and also square it with the hood. Dremel works great. I did this before the motor mount switch so don't know if it would have been necessary but it also looks better.
