I've also been very interested in the possabilities of such a creation.
I'd like to see any information you may turn up, see if it gives me any ideas.
The other thing which has stuck in the back of my mind from the work I've done on various small scooters and mopeds is the Continuously Variable Transmission.
Rather then having 3-5 set gears which you shift between, it uses two adjustable sized pullies/shafts/whatever with a belt like connector.
What this means is you start out at one gear ratio and then smoothly change from low speed high torque to high speed low torque without actually shifting in a traditional sense.
As good as this is for performance, I have yet to see many practical uses for this type of transmission.
The good news is that Audi has recently discussed a small car with such a transmission.
With that in mind, does anyone know of an existing CVT transmission, and what the chances of grafting one into a Sonett would be?
I understand the Sonett's transmission is a bit of a weak point...
This is most likely just an unlikely dream, but a turbocharged wankel driven Sonett with a CVT sure sounds like one heck of a toyota killer.
