When the problem started I stopped driving the car, I believe it was around four months ago. I have been working on it and trying to drive it periodically. What I mean by misfire is one cylinder will not fire. It is not always the same cylinder but it seems to run on three for ten minutes and then swith and start running on a different three. I can tell which cylinder is not firing by checking the plugs for unburnned fuel, and we did check the plug gap. I will try checking the coil wire for spark tommorow, if im not too busy after school getting parts for my alfa, so hopefully I can give you guys some good news.
The problem always occurs, no matter the tempurature or throttle given to the car. I have not yet checked the valves because I am unsure how to do so, I have checked gap on small enginges, but am not sure how to do it on car motors.
Now that I think of it, the problem started only a week after I had the motor out of the car to do a transmission rebuild. The engine was on a cherry picker for probably 5 months and then driven for a week before parked again. I feel bad the car is sitting so I am trying to fix it so it can go up for sale.
Thanks for all the help so far
Greg
