JimH asked:
"I have read to use 1.5" ID "Y" portion of manifold tubes into a single 2" outlet pipe with silencer, and the other recipe was to use 1 3/4" all the way through the "y" set up. I am planning on mounting my 2-bl manifold with a weber 5200. Which is the better street exhaust pipe setup?"
"Better" in what regards? Horsepower? Efficiency? Noise? My 73 Sonett w/Weber 32/36 DGV uses the 1.5" --> 2" as you describe. I think(?) the issue was getting/finding the proper-fit "donuts" to attach the header to manifold if I recall, hence using the 1.5" down & through the Y. Bigger is always better for efficiency (and very-minor gain in HP) I've been told. Noise? <grin> Ear of the beholder to be sure...subject to the type of straight-through "glasspack" muffler you use.
