I finally did the other 1/2 of the engine. This is a relatively fast process if you have the correct tools. Those tools are:
1) 30 gallon compressor
2) connector that screws into spark plug hole and attaches to compressor
3) Valve spring compressor
4) Torque wrench
5) valve cover gaskets (mine were new so I reused them)
6) New rubber valve seals
Remove the valve cover and scrape off old gasket as necessary. Remove rocker arm assembly. Remove spark plug. Attach the air compressor attachement to the spark plug hole. Use the screw down valve spring compressor. Hit the valve spring retainer(not the 2 halves of the retainer, but the washer they fit into) until it is free, then remove both halves of the retainer. Remove the spring, remove the old seal, wipe everything clean and re-oil. Place replacement seal. Replace spring and retainers. Loosen clamp and ensure retainers are properly seated. Move on to next. Do this 8 times and you are done. It is simple, quick, and easy, (although sometimes the valve retainers need some not so gentle persuasion).
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! Smoke is gone, even when I rev the engine! Just a slight tad of smoke when I begin to really rev hard and then let off the pedal, but that is normal for cars with carbs. I am so stoked!!!
Now I can get to welding the floors and trunk, then painting with rust neutralizer. (Wish I had a sheet metal break here in NYC). Then I will insert the Frankenstein injection harness I have created.
