This sucks - wiring harness toasted (long)

So there I was, thinking I had the car almost ready for the official road test to get it street legal again after almost 3 years. I went for a test drive Tuesday evening and suddenly got a bit of a burning smell in the nose. My first thoughts were the brakes (had to re-adjust the rear brakes after fixing the hand brake bracket that tore off at the front side) were too tight, but then smoke emerged from under the dashboard. I emergency parked besides the road in the grass and unscrewed the ground cable from the battery. After a while the smoking stopped. The first inspection showed molten wires at the ignition switch and at the fuse box circuit 58 did not look too healthy at the lower connector anymore. A further search yesterday showed that one of the connector blocks under the dashboard with circuit 58 as one of the pins is molten to such an extent that I can't separate the halves the normal way, so that's one item to search for. Where is Ebay with somebody parting out a car when you need it? What worries me is that not a single fuse blew and that the only way to stop the current was by disconnecting the ground cable from the battery. Does somebody have a list of the amps the fuses should be? I can't find a list in the Sonett appendix manual and when I bought the car the fuse box did not have a lid, so no links that way either.
And now back to under the dash to find out how far damage has been done
:( .
