Some parts are easy to find, others are made of unobtainium.
The Sonett tub is basically a shortened 96, but there are differences. Jack Ashcraft has most sheet metal pieces available for repairing the floor and sills. Any year of Sonett III frame will work.
The engines in all Sonett IIIs were the same 1700cc low compression V-4 engine that was in the sedans. The power can be increased considerably with modifications. Jack Lawrence at Motor Sport Service is the master of Sonett modifications. He won five F-production SCCA championships in his racer.
Vin#, engine# and transmission# are not matched as was done on some American cars. VIN 3s are very basic, giving year and model, manufacturing plant, and which chassis in that year you have. Except for AC, and leather seats in '71, they were all configured with the same equipment. Underhood AC was installed at the factory, but interior fitment was finished by the dealer.
There's a market for good ones, but don't plan on making a huge profit on it. Restoration people say that unless a car is extremely rare and has exceptional appeal, you should expect to spend at least three time what the car is worth on any full restoration.
Chip Lamb at West of Sweden has reproductions of the factory repair manuals. The Sonett uses the 95/96 manual for most components and a supplement covering things that are different.
