86 ford escort mechanical fuel pump 1.9L engine with carburetor.
Run car on highway about 1/2 hour I stop to do shopping about 15 min.
Car will start right up. About 1/2 mile car loses power then stalls.
I squirt starting fluid in carburetor starts right up and stalls.
I removed hose from pump to filter and turned engine over. No fuel.
Removed hose from tank to pump and blew and found no resistant.
Hooked hose from tank back to pump turned engine over no fuel.
After car cools about ½ hr starts up and I go home.
Next day I replace fuel pump no problems for 3 weeks.
Then same thing.
Gas stations are putting alcohol in fuel recently can this be problem?
Can Gasohol cause vapor lock?
