Sounds like he's talking about the rubber and chrome trim on the lead edge of the hood. A search of the board didn't bring up anything that I could find.
I installed electronic ignition in the Sonett last week, then timed it. Ran crappy even after fiddling with the carb, lots of backfiring, mostly when cold. Said to hell with it, threw a plate on it, and ran it up to my father in laws for the winter. Must have had a sticky valve, carbon build up, or something, because the good hard 1/2 hour run up cleared it out. Runs much better now. The poor thing probably hasn't been run for any extended period in 2-3 years, all the more reason to get it back out first thing this spring!
