One can place a show quality on an old Saab. What makes an old Mercedes or BMW worth much more than an old Saab.
The purpose of a show quality paint job is to view and admire the shape and lines of the car; less being distracted by bondo or mediocre paint..or flaws.
These old Saabs have beautiful unusual unique shapes, and a show quality paint job maximizes the beauty.
I personally see nothing exciting about a Mercedes, BMW 2002..even though they are worth much more restored. IfI had the spare cash, I would not have a conflict placing in 9,000 towards a real professionally restored Saab.
I did my V4 engine a few years ago, and despite I did the work myself, the rebuild went just over 3,000. Now, if I could spend 3,000 on the engine, why not compliment the work by having a flawless body?
