After Carlisle, my thoughts on Sonett values Posted by patquin [Email] (#52) [Profile/Gallery] (more from patquin) on Sun, 3 Jun 2007 07:23:49 In Reply to: Re: Correct. Now I get it--if you read Chaz's message, you could also read it to be a veiled threat for recourse from a disgruntled bidder! Oh my. Pardon my paranoia--LOL!
Thanks for thinking my car may be that valuable, but in my opinion, the market for Sonett II two-stroke cars has skyrocketed after the GM Heritage Collection restoration. The II was very popular at Carlisle last month. GM also has a very nice example of a '70 Sonett III. What they purposefully don't have is a Sonett II V4; they're not interested. The argument is that it was a variant of the Sonett II. Also, consider that there were so few two-stroke cars sold--Saab sold about 150 Sonett IIs, about 1900 V4s, and about 10,000 Sonett IIIs.
I'd say a very good example of a II would be worth in the $15k range; a V4 in the $7.5k range, and a III in the $5k range. But I'm betting those numbers could double in a couple years, once a new Saab sports car /commercial version of the Aero is announced. Think of all those owners who would want both the new car and the original--owners willing and able to pay big bucks for brand new high-end Saabs. Just my opinion--I don't have any insider information!!
