I agree--that section of fiberglass was never very strong. I can also say that fiberglass is much weaker if the glass fibers have soaked in water. So I'd say don't be too concerned. I've had a body-off rear section out, and it's not very stiff behind the window. On the other hand, if you see physical damamge--broken fibers, then you could certainly add new layers on the inside surface.
