All original except engine power increased, plus extra rustproofing. Reliable and great fun to drive. Retired and downsizing is the reason for selling this Sonett (also see my 1994 classic 900 convertible on Saabnet.com). Purchased in 2001 from second owner. First owner (engineer and racer) successfully enhanced the rustproofing: No rust to repair! Engine rebuilt 2001 at 70,572 miles with intake and exhaust manifolds, carburetor, street cam, oversize pistons, steel timing gear set, lightened flywheel, etc. from Motor Sport Service for significantly increased power. Heads with bigger hardened valves/seats for unleaded gas. Electric cooling fan and Ashcraft coolant filter. Brake and clutch systems converted to DOT 5 silicone. Brake master re-sleeved, front calipers rebuilt, new front rotors, pads and rear wheel cylinders. New clutch master and slave cylinders. Transaxle rebuilt 9/2016 by Tom Donney at Fort Dodge Transmission with Tom's recommended upgrades: Clutch disk and pressure plate, freewheel locked out. Rare correct OEM/Scandix dual exhaust and correct Vredestein Sprint Classic 155SR15 tires. Wheels never blasted: Original machining marks and center caps. Cibie headlights and period-correct driving lights. Seats with sheepskin seating surfaces plus original seats. Email or call for pictures and questions.

Excellent Sonett III, owned by Saab enthusiast being sold only due to age (mine) and a cross country move. This is my third Sonett III and it's the best of the bunch. Mileage believed to be actual. No rust and very good new paint (10 years ago) but not concours quality. Nice original interior with reattached headliner, nice soccer ball wheels (including spare) with very good 145-15 tires. 1700cc V4 is all original/stock with complete engine compartment. All glass is original and in good shape. This car has always been garaged since it was restored about 10 years ago. Original air conditioning system is still in place except the evaporator. Local shop says they can repair/replace for $250. Happy to share additional photos on request. The photo shown here was taken this week. The car is located near Charlottesville, VA, about 2 hours drive from Washington D.C.

Selling my beloved Sonett after 34 years. Second owner. Purchased in 1983 at 119,000 miles. Car has won numerous awards at various conventions and car shows and has always received rave reviews and acclaim from attendees. Finished a full ground up restoration in the spring of 1988. Restoration consisted of total disassembly. Every piece of sheet metal on the under structure of the car that was available from SAAB at the time was replaced. Priming of all metal parts was done using CORALAR primer as per Saab Guru Bill Jacobsen's recommendation given at the 1985 convention in Delaware. Engine totally disassembled and rebuilt. New valves and seats to deal with unleaded gas. New Isky camshaft for enhanced performance. Carb work and tuning done by Andy Bittenbinder, local tuning expert and Saab enthusiast. Automatic choke replaced with manual choke. Much more detail work done too. New battery this past September. Transmission rebuilt by J&B Imports (Bud Clark) in California in 1999. New bearings, seals and gaskets, etc. Invoice with parts breakdown available. Brakes, hoses, seals, rotors, drums, etc all replaced. Have some new misc. parts from Jack Ashcraft in my inventory that would be included along with factory Sonett manual and Saab parts microfiche and reader. Complete documentation of all work done included with sale of car. Car was originally Pumpkin Orange. Now painted in the VERY VERY rare SAAB Pearlescent White, only used on the eight 1985 SPG prototype cars. My wife and I had the use of one of these SPG's for two weeks on our honeymoon in Sweden that summer and I fell in love with the color. Wheels are painted to match. Paint job is unbelievable and can only be appreciated in person. Car changes color in the sunlight. Unlike any other pearlescent that you have ever seen before. Interior seats reupholstered in fabric very similar to factory. New radio and speakers. Side and rear windows tinted a slightly darker shade of gray to highlight the paint. I believe this car may be one of the finest examples of this model in existence. Only known issue is an undiagnosed slight oil leak. Selling car as is with this issue. Motivated seller willing to make a fair deal for both parties.

Early 73 Sonett, licensed and inspected in PA. I drove it last summer but the brake master is leaking and I don't have the desire to remove it and send it back to White Post again. The heads have been rebuilt with hardened seats. MSS single pipe exhaust. Car needs paint, interior and brake master work. Could use carb tune up. Also I think the bushings in the shifter need to be replaced. Car comes with 2 barrel manifold and Weber DGAV carb as well as an extra front clip (not pictured). More pictures upon request. Make me an offer.

Great fun to drive and mechanically sound. Solid floor pan, frame straight no rust. Paint has some spidering and chips but still looks decent from 30 ft. There is even a 5-point racing harness but I never used it. Headliner not sagging. 5th soccer ball in trunk. I also have Sonett service manual. Car is complete. Known problems: Brake reservoir has small leak, Front bumper on right side has rusted connectors and has started to pull away. Car runs strong, trans is smooth and car is very solid with some repairs upon close examination but a great driver.
