Here is the history:Bought 5 years ago. Dis-similar front pads & the softer ones were worn out.the rears were OK. Replaced 2 front pads. (Used spanner, from the dealer, toscrew the calipers in.)(front) parking brakes sticking, had to release them with a screwdriver. Didn'trespond to silicone, so I installed rebuilt calipers from an after-market shop.Had terrible squeal, so I removed the new (aftermarket) pads and put my oldones in. The squeal disappeared. At 75k miles, the inner & outer front pads were worn out. The rear still weregood. Put in 4 new front pads (from Saab dealer.) Hmmm, the calipers won'tscrew in, I had to push them with a pry bar (May have nicked discs slightly). Were these aftermarket calipers improperly (re)built? The new Saab pads squeal some. What should I do to fix it?I hoped any nicks in the discs would either wear off or wear a groove in thepads and have no other effect. Could it be causing me a problem?BTW no-one responded to my query about activating left&right parking brakesseparately to transfer torque to the wheel not stuck in mud/snow. Doesn'tanyone else ever get stuck? The only reference I have seen to this is lockingthe differential (permanently) for ice racing. Would anyone be interested ifI build a hand brake modification to allow independent control?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~My radical ideas would never be accepted by a staid company like this.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Posts in this Thread:
