Assuming operation's similar to earlier 900's, dealer explanation 
incorrect.

Yes, if power to the ECU interupted, the check engine light comes on and
the ECU needs to be 'retrained'. Retraining consists of driving the
vehicle for 10+ minutes with engine at normal operating temps. Have also
seen info which indicates that the vehicle should be driven at 3,000+ rpm
but my computer general clears and resets after 10mins of normal driving.
If however there is a persistant fault i the system the check engine light
will stay lit until the problem corrected and/or the code is cleared.

My experience is that 9 times out of 10 vacuum hose has come loose. Open
the hood and listen for hissing while moving rubber vacuum hoses around.
Typical points of disconnection are the PCV valve on top of the cam cover
and connections to the throttle. body. There's a diagram of vacuum hose
routing around the wheel well. Good luck.
