Subject: Re: buying a new SAAB

I hear it all the time: Saabs are unreliable, Saabs are weird looking, Saabs etc. I have yet to meet a Saab owner who didn't have a good experience owning their car. My '87 900S 16v (4dr) has given me no significant problems in 120,000 miles, and I drive it in all kinds of weather, on mountain roads at high (fun) speeds, etc. I drive my car hard and it has stuck by me in all the years that I've had it. I notice that most of the people who talk badly about Saabs own American automobiles. I've never in my life seen a Saab abandoned on the side of the interstate, but I see Fords, Chevys, and even Lincolns left for dead quite often. I've had a string of experiences where my car was the only one in a group to start when the temperature hovered just above zero (Fahrenheit). I even pulled a Beamer out of the snow once, the driver had lost traction on a country road and ended up sideways in a drift. He was grateful for my excellent traction on snow. :-) I have a friend with a '96 900 convertible, he loves his. It's an excellent car, you should be pleased with it. Get the 4 cylinder turbo! Remember: If you take good care of your Saab, it will take good care of you.
