Subject: Should I buy a high-mileage Saab?

Greetings! I've always admired the classic lines of a Saab (and a Mercedes, and a Volvo) but could never justify the price of a new one. Now, however, I'm looking at a couple of used Saabs: A 1985 900s with 134,000 miles for $2,350 OBO. A 1988 900s with 170,000 miles for $3,200. Both have thorough service records and seem to have been well-maintained. But, of course, the miles worry me a bit and I do need reliability. Anyone have experience with high-mileage Saabs who can offer general advice on what problems to anticipate? Mark E. Dixon Wayne, PA
