Subject: Re: 9-3 cellphone assembly

This is possible with a 9-5 and a 9-3--I have it in my 9-5 and it works BEAUTIFULLY!! When the phone rings, the stereo quiets, the display shows "telephone" and I activate the phone to talk away!! Now, getting the dealer to do this is impossible---I had to go to an outside mobile installer...cost (all told) is about US$450... Here is what they need to do: 1. There is a special "harness" which the dealer MUST install. the part is about US$30, but the labor is crazy--they have to remove the dash to do it. 2. This is then run to a Nokia (almost the ONLY phone which works for this, btw) cradle and mounted on the standard cell mount offered in the accessories catalog. The phone will then recognize it is in "Car" mode, the screen will stay lit constantly (very nice) and the microphone (next to the RV mirror) works well. I can dig up my installer's info (in Seattle) and they could probably tell you the parts you need. I DID see a memo sent to the US dealers letting them know of the various success rates for different phones--so there should be no excuse for not knowing about it... It is a bit expensive, but if you're like me, this is one of the reasons I went with the 9-5 (on the comforts list at least). and when done correctly, is wonderful to have... I'll post the info when i get it... cvnopsam.ca wrote in message <75p4t1$20s$1nopsam1.dejanews.com>... >Hello, > >I have a Nokia 6190 GSM phone that I want to connect to the SID and >factory-installed handsfree microphone and wiring in my '99 9-3.
