Yes, a Saab is a truly unique car. You may be frustrated with the cost of repairs, the difficulty of finding a good mechanic (depending on where you live), the quirks they develop as they age, but after driving one you won't care. These cars are addictive and embody something that very few mass production automobiles still have - a true love of the road. My first car was a 1976 99GL. It was a cream sedan with rust colored interior. I got it 1986 and cosmetically it was absolutely flawless. It looked new. When I pulled it into the local Saab dealership for a tune up, the salesmen all gathered around and couldn't believe the condition. I really loved that car. Despite the cosmetics, the mechanics were a nightmare and in two years I spent over 3K in repairs. Still, I love that car. It drove like nothing else and I felt fantastic in it. No Honda or Toyota can compare. The 94 - 98 900's are much more dependable and are a real treat to drive. They are still expensive to repair, but the tradeoff is worth it if you want a serious - and safe - automobile. Try a 9-3 if you can. Saab has a great, affordable leasing program as well, which takes care of repairs. Also, check out Saab's website. The graphic design alone makes it worth a visit. No other car company's site can compare! www.saab.com
