Aren't cassettes underrated these days? If you can stand the hiss the sound isn't bad, but best of all they're smaller than cds and can be dropped, scratched, stepped on, and still play like new. CDs in the cabin are a nuisance--bulky, awkward. That's why I fitted my car with a Clarion cassette deck with a CD Changer Control. Just load it up with 10 CDs once a week, and that, coupled with my collection of tapes in the cubbyhole beneath the ashtray, provides a maximum of musical variety. Cassette tapes have been around for nearly 40 years, 15 of which have been during the mass-marketing of CDs. Despite the ignorant efforts of car manufacturers and the recording industry to replace them with MDs, cassettes won't die soon, for they are a cheap, compact means of storing music.
