Subject: Re: Classic 900, life expectancy of tyres

I changed mine , on a 91 900S non-turbo, at 23K, and 42K but I rotate the tires (back <--> front) at 8K intervals; both times the tires were Pirelli 4000 Super Touring. I think rotating the tires extend their life about 5-10K depending on the type, soft or hard compound. Hard compound will last longer but may not be as sticky. Michelin is known for its hard compounds but for us here in the US if you live in a snowy area they can be real killers in cold weather, these hard compounds turn into cement blocks below 32F (0C). So, pick your poison!.
