Not sure if the auto produces different gas mileage, but my 1984 900 S, with 5-speed manual (same engine and tranny as 1985 models, I believe), gets 23 - 27mpg. But I think I need a new O2 sensor, which some people say might improve the gas mileage slightly. -jw -- 1984 900 S hatchback 135,000 mi.
