Subject: Re: What oil should I use?

I have been using Castrol GTX in all of my Saabs and my former wife's Chevy Blazer since 1985. I started using it after buying a Toyota van in 1985. The manager recommended Castrol GTX. I began using it in my 83 900T 5 spd. I changed the oil every 3500 to 5000 miles. It had over 251,000 miles, when it was totalled by a truck running into the rear end. My current 87 9000S had 145,890 miles, when I got it 12/31/97. It now has 214,221. I use Castrol GTX 10W40. I also use Militec-1. To the naysayers. I have used it since 1994, and it works. My 9000 runs quiet and uses no oil. If you are going to change your oil every 3000 to 4000 miles the advantages of synthetics are not cost effective in my opinion.
