Subject: Why do we compare...(almost term paper long)
Drivers of other Marque's obviously have different opinions on vehicles in
general. Why do they not like front wheel drive...maybe it's because they
don't know how fun it is to know how. Can you blame them, it's pretty easy
to drive a RWD vehicle. Pretty much everyone can sit in a RWD vehicle and
speed race pretty much however/wherever they want. Maybe they don't know
that the Viggen has over 250 ft/lb torque...stock from the front wheels.
That's why the average leigh person is automatically inducted into a class
on *how* to pilot it. Spirited driving in a FWD car isn't as simple and
generic as doing burnouts in a RWD vehicle. Does this make the Saab owner a
snob...nah, it just makes us different. Know many other people that drive
Saab's? "Hell no, it's made by Swedes...what do Swedes know about making a
vehicle". Well, lets see. According to crash tests, we have a much better
chance of surviving an accident. Not because of 8 airbags, but because our
cars aren't hot-glued sheets of plastic and tin cans. It's called
structural integrity...and let's face it, a majority of Marque's today don't
share this concept. What else do the Swedes know about building
vehicles...according to C/D (11/01), one damn fine supercar. The Koenigsegg
CC V, which Saab has lent a hand building a Trionic engine management system
for, is being built as a would be successor for the almighty Mclaren F1.
Proving Swedish ingenuity is lacking in no respect, the Koenigsegg is a
mid-engine RWD vehicle, like most other super cars. The powerplant itself
is a supercharged/intercooled V-8 that displaces 655bhp
