Dextron III is, by specification and regardless of manufacturer, a synthetic lubricant. SAAB seems mute on the issue, but SAAB synthetic gearbox oil is likely Dextron III. It is being used by several auto makers in their modern manual transmissions. For my part, I love synthetic lubricants. Use 'em everywhere I can. I just have a hard time jamming my foot to the floor in a turbo-charged car with some watery, pink, girly "fluid" protecting my transmission. Sorry!! Won't go there!! I've used Mobil 1 75W Gear oil for years in several SAABs with excellent results. Protects at 200 degrees F. Shifts at -25 degrees F. Gets a bit sticky below that. Better let it warm up for a few minuets before driving. Works fine in my wife's '97 9000. woof!
