I would first suspect a track or lubrication problem, here. Remove the door panel and see if lubrication of the mechanism (I do not know where a spring would live here, though). There are pivots and rollers which ride in tracks. All need to be lubed. If the problem does not go away, it could be that the mechanism is bent somehow or that the problem is in the motor or gear drive bearings. This can also be disassembled and lubed to good effect.
