However, when the 9000 was tested in Sweden, it was the safest car in its class. Saab has done some substantial crash testing on the 9-5 and it is considered as a further development from the 9000 in crash safety. No first hand experience here, there probably aren't that many. I think the manufacturers now consider safety up to a point where most accidents should be survivable, but this does not mean that more can't be done if needed. E.g. rallye drivers have roll cages and four-point seat belts and they usually escape very bad crashes with only minor injuries. Johannes
