Old 900s like mine, have a small intercooler tucked away behind the left headlihght. My approach will be to change the intercooler, get a high performance one and position it below or infront of the radiator. There was some time ago a description of such a job, with photos, posted I believe in the other place, Do a search there. Good luck and keep us posted.
