Personally, I don't believe there is any such thing as a "lemon". I believe it is a notion that has been conjured up by non-technically thinking people (like salesmen) to explain to themselves and others why one car might have a heavier repair record than another. New cars that have lots of work done in the first months or years of their lives can usually be attributed to ineptitude at the servicing dealership. They can't figure out what the original problem is so they keep throwing parts at. It never gets fixed and before you know it something else is wrong and now there are two uinsolved problems. Is the car a lemon then? There are older cars that have not had proper maintenance over their lifetime and start to show it when things all wear out at the same time. Is that a lemon? I'm sure there all kinds of horror stories about the "lemon" cars that people have owned or known about. You just never know the whole story... The amount the OP is spending on repairs is due primarily to the fact that they are bringing it to the stealership for all repairs. They are only too happy to seperate a car owner from their money. Id you can't find a reputable independant to do the service on your SAAB I would suggest finding an alternate marque car that is more popular in your area and sell off the current one. -Fred W
