Where is the 9-6X to fit into SAAB's product lineup? Here's how I see it:
9-2X : compact "hot hatch"
9-3 SportSedan : small "near luxury" car
9-3 SportCombi : small "near luxury" station wagon
9-3 Convertible: small "near luxury" convertible car
9-5 : medium "near luxury" car
9-5 SportWagon : medium "near luxury" station wagon
9-6X : small AWD SUV/minivan
9-7X : medium 4WD SUV
9-? : "crossover"
The 9-6X seems to me to be more of an AWD minivan than an SUV.
Will SAAB be needing a small roadster (to compete with BMW Z4, Audi TT) next? Shoot, they could re-badge the Solstice Turbo and I'd run right out and buy one. Hopefully they'd SAAB-ize it a little more with the SAAB active whiplash-prevention seats and fine SAAB interior, as well as safety enhancements (SAAB's specialty) like the pop-up rollbars found on the 9-3 'vert first. Of course, allowing SAAB Trollhatten to design their own roadster based on the Kappa platform would be best, but I don't see that happening with all the rebadging going on as of late.
