1) Do you always accuse others of "ad hominem" attacks anonymously?
2) There are 2 definitions for "ad hominem" and they are; 1 : appealing to feelings or prejudices rather than intellect. OR 2 : marked by an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to the contentions made.
3) My "Ha!" post was not an, "ad hominem" attack on Jason as I neither made an appeal to feelings/prejudices or attacked his character while ignoring his contentions.
4) In fact I responded directly to his contentions by responding to his rips of the 9-5 and new 9-3 convertible.
5) Now I didn't go into a lengthy comparison of a Cavalier vs. a 9-5 to show how silly the contentions that the 9-5 looks like a "$15k GM" with alloy wheels is because I was respecting the intelligence of the readers of this board that they don't need that. Jason was either using hyperbole, my first supposition, or blind, my second. Accusing a person of using hyperbole is not a character attack and not even in the same time zone as ad hominem. As for saying he's blind? Well if you really really think a 9-5 looks like a $15k car then yes... you are in fact blind and calling a blind person blind is also not a character attack.
6) In Jason's other connention, that the 9-3 Convertible is a rehashed Opel I simply asked to know what Opel convertible he was referring to, again not a character attack. My comment of the 2004 Opel Doesntexsist XL Sport was making light of the fact that there is not suck car and not a character assassination of Jason.
7) Further examples of my post not being an ad hominem attack is that I stated I would stand up and support his right to think is 9k is the greatest thing since sliced bread and that I stated he is a "big boy", i.e. a grown adult capable of making up his own mind. Neither of those are character attacks or appeals to prejudices.
8) If anyone is guilty of the dreaded ad hominem attack it would be you when you accused me of being a "zealot" and that my post was lacking, "substantiated reasoning or intelligent remarks" without in anyway addressing a single one of my contentions about Jason's post.

I know this thread will disappear thanks to the no name post but I'm just tired of people misusing "ad hominem" to either counter arguments they don't like or simply make themselves look smart. But what do I know... I AM a Saab zealot :)
