I often look at cars on eBay but I don't think I would ever place a bid on one. Wait, I take that back. I did bid on a 2000 Monte Carlo Yellow Viggen Convertible back in 2014, one of only 18 ever sold in the US!
This car was advertised as having a suddenly appearing oil leak problem and I was guessing it may have been the oil pressure sensor. The owner was in his 70's and just wanted to unload the car. I stopped bidding at $2500 because of the uncertainty/risk factor and I think the car sold for $3500.
The seller had it listed with a Buy It Now price of only $1500 and someone entered a lower bid than that! The first bid then initiated the Auction phase. If only I had seen the B-I-N price first.
