And why I have pretty much refrained from posting. Neil may have made a mistake, or he may be the victim of someone else's well executed and devious plan. Either way, my position is to let him vent publicly and to lick any wounds in private.
Buying a car remotely is a high risk venture. Previously I only feared receiving a car that was far below advertised quality. Now I know that I may never receive the vehicle!
Last year I got burned on an eBay purchase of a plastic gas tank for the B&S engine on my lawn mower. I needed (and purchased!) the half-donut shaped tank that wraps around the flywheel on walk behind mower engines. Instead, I received a large rectangular tank that is used on commercial mowers.
Seller would not acknowledge his mistake or false ad. Would only accept the tank back if I paid for shipping and a re-stocking fee. I found the right tank locally (for less money) and sold the wrong tank - almost making a profit.
I learned my lesson on a $30 item and now realize how lucky I was.
