Posted by Andy Cassino (more from Andy Cassino) on Mon, 20 Mar 1989 23:55:31 My '88 900S has 27k on the odometer and has developed some veryannoying suspension rattles (actually, perhaps 'clunks' is a betterword). These noises are very noticeable when driving slow (about 20mph) on an uneven road, especially if it causes any side-to-sidepitching. (The asphalt alley that provides access to my garage is theprimo test ground). Anyhow, it sounds like something underneath thecar and towards the back is clunking around. I've emptied the trunkand eliminated loose spare tires, etc as the cause. Yesterday I lookedaround underneath the car while I had it jacked up to remove the snowtires, and I couldn't see anything obvious. The exhaust system has afair bit of movement, but I yanked it around and couldn't get it tocontact anything. No obvious loose bolts either. Any other ideas ofwhere to look?
