Air Temp Control Knob
Posted by Sharat Israni (more from Sharat Israni) on Thu, 11 May 1989 17:42:28
I have had a broken air-temperature control knob for a long time (I thinkit happened about a week after the warranty ran out on my 84 900) - I hearit is a relatively common problem that Saab has not quite solved. The knobinternals just wore off, and so I drive around with a pair of pliers androtate the shaft to change temperatures. Only the California weather hasprevented it from being a major nuisance. The parts guy at the dealer told me I would have to remove the dash toput in this silly $12 knob-and-shaft that comes in one piece. Is that true?If so, how many screws do I have to remove? And, what is more, will I ever be able to put the dash back the way it was? I have heard rumors to thecontrary.Sharat Israni
