Water Pumps

Well, I replaced mine. Don't buy the parts kit; yours will be corroded when it goes. Buy the whole pump. Get the cast aluminum cover too. You could return it if you don't break the old one. Make *sure* the drive gear is the same size/number of teeth as the one you take out!this applies to any b-block 2.0 liter engine; from 81 on the h-blockengines are done differently.i cannot state too strongly that you should check the tooth counton the old and new pumps; the wrong pump fits right in and destroysthe idlershaft the first time you start your engine. this happenedto a friend of mine; it wasn't pretty. the box had the correct partnumber, but the pump in the box was the wrong one. if you strip teethoff the idler shaft, you have to pull the engine to replace the shaft.richard
