Press photos available at: http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/press/
In 1999, Saab Cars USA, Inc. and Gary Fisher-two brands with a passion for breaking the rules-teamed up to form the Gary Fisher Saab Mountain Bike Race Team. The partnership immediately proved its merits as the team garnered the world championship title and a world cup victory. This year, the partnership's success will be expressed even further as Saab introduces the Saab 9-5 Wagon Gary Fisher Edition.
CHICAGO-The new Saab 9-5 Wagon Gary Fisher Edition is a true sport wagon that combines the performance, safety and cargo-hauling abilities of the Saab 9-5 Wagon with enhanced versatility features that suit one of the world's top mountain bike teams. The vehicle begins with Saab's entry-level 9-5 Wagon, adds the Premium Package which includes leather seats, dual power seats with memory and a premium Harman/Kardon audio system, and offers a number of unique versatility and design features that complement an active lifestyle.
The Saab 9-5 Wagon, with its standard 73 cubic feet of cargo capacity (with rear seats folded) and aircraft-inspired CargoTracksTM load securing system, is designed to accommodate nearly all needs. However, for those who require even more flexibility,
the 9-5 Wagon Gary Fisher Edition adds:
* A roof rack system with bike carrier and ski holder
* A body-leveling system designed to maintain excellent driving characteristics and ride comfort, even when towing or heavily loaded
* A sliding load floor that allows easy loading of up to 440 pounds of cargo
* A strong cargo load net that separates the passenger compartment and cargo area
* A side cargo net
* A 12-volt power outlet in the cargo area
* A cooling box for refreshments that can chill contents to 41¡ F.
Saab has also altered the exterior design of the 9-5 Wagon Gary Fisher Edition. It features:
* A body styling package that includes sideskirts, a front lip spoiler and a body- painted rear bumper valence
* White side-indicator lamps
* Special 17' Quad design wheels and high-performance Michelin 225/45 R17 tires.
In addition, a sport leather-wrapped steering wheel with perforated leather sections and handgrips is also provided.
To top off the package, a Saab Limited Edition Gary Fisher mountain bike is also included. The bike offers Fisher's 6061 T6 aluminum frame with Genesis geometry, a Rock Shox Judy XC fork, Bontrager Superstock wheels and Shimano Components. The bike, which features unique Saab Team Blue paint with Fisher Team Yellow decals, is only available with this vehicle and has a retail value of $900.
The Saab 9-5 Wagon Gary Fisher Edition will be available this March, and Saab plans to produce only 650 units. They will be available in Silver and Black and, including all of the additional features listed above, will only be $1,880 more than the base 9-5 Wagon with the Premium Package. The price of the Saab 9-5 Wagon Gary Fisher Edition will be $36,995.
Saab's relationship with Gary Fisher illustrates their shared vision. While four decades and an ocean separate the creation of the two companies, their philosophies are strikingly similar. The two brands define innovation, individuality, outstanding design and intelligent technology, and they have a passion for breaking the rules. Their partnership will be front stage at this year's Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia as the team features four Olympic contenders. In addition, this spring, they will launch the Saab Gary Fisher Ultimate Trails Tour (UTT), bringing Gary Fisher and Saab dealers, as well as potential Saab and Fisher customers, together for a weekend of bike and car testing, entertainment and technical clinics. TSN Press 2/28/00 Message from The Saab Network Subject: Dealers #1 in use of Genuine OEM Parts ================== SAAB DEALERS RANKED #1 IN USE OF GENUINE OEM PARTS
* Saab Parts Managers buy 97.4 percent of parts from Saab
* Saab system allows many dealers to receive out-of-stock parts the night it is ordered
NORCROSS, Ga.- Saab Cars USA, Inc., the U.S. importer and distributor of Saab 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles, has undergone a major effort to improve the loyalty and satisfaction of its dealers' Parts Managers. That is why Saab is pleased with the results of the 1999 Parts Policy Monitor study conducted by Industrial Marketing Research, Inc. The study ranks Saab dealers number one in loyalty, ordering 97.4 percent of all parts from the manufacturer.
'This study shows us that Saab Parts Managers are happy with our prices, availability and delivery speed,' said Doug Williams, Saab's Parts Operations Manager. 'It's gratifying because we've worked hard to improve all aspects of parts operations.'
Saab has met frequently with dealer Parts Department Managers to discuss ways to improve the customer's cost of ownership and make it easier for the dealer to do business with Saab Cars USA, Inc. 'We started this process by asking dealers what we were doing that they didn't like,' says Williams. 'We made it much easier and less costly for them to do business with l.S. Then we asked each other what our customers want. We targeted parts pricing and eliminated the need for anyone to go anywhere else to buy their parts. For example, we can now even compete on light bulbs, wiper blades and antifreeze.
'Even Saab customers who have their cars serviced at independent garages can be assured they are getting genuine Saab parts, if the shop is ordering their parts from their Saab area dealer,' said Williams. 'This is very important since genuine Saab parts offer the highest quality and some, like shock absorbers and mufflers, carry a lifetime warranty.'
To improve customer satisfaction, Saab has set up a system that allows many dealers to receive an out-of-stock part the very night it is ordered. Therefore, when the Parts Manager comes in the next day, the parts are there waiting and the service technician can get right to work, making the car available to the customer quicker than ever.
'I feel that Saab has fully addressed the needs of today's automotive retailer,' said Timothy Martino, Service Manager at Charles River Saab in Watertown, Mass. 'We now have the ability to truly service our customers' interests by having 24 hour turn-around at worst on getting the part to fix their car. Saab owners value their time, and that's precisely what we're able to save for them. If we don't have it today, we will by tomorrow morning.
'Having this option also translates into increasing profit,' added Martino. 'When our customers are offered a repair combined with the convenience of having it completed by the next business day, they frequently give us the go ahead. If we offer the repair but need to take a couple of days to get it back to them, then they often decline. Saab has done the right thing for the customer and for the dealer.'
In addition to its high score in loyalty, Saab finished fourth in overall Parts Manager satisfaction out of the 25 OEMs who participated in the study. ================== The Saab Network http://www.saabnet.com/ saabno39sdcx6spamx782saabnet.com
