900 Idle

As a new subscriber I don't know if my problem has been previously coveredbut here it is. My 83 SAAB 900 doesn't start at altitudes around 7000 ft.(It lives at sea level). It's idle needs to get reset each time it goesup or down a mountain. My mechanic tells me there is no way to solvethe problem. I got to keep adjusting. Thus I would like to know howto do it myself. I can't imagine it's so difficult that I have to keeptaking it each time to a gas station as my mechanic recommends.I and my Saabette would greatly appreciate any advice on this matter.Paula
