Traded the old 900 for a 9 5
Posted by Mike Remsha (more from Mike Remsha) on Sun, 16 Apr 2000 23:21:35
After over a decade of fun and reliable transportation I traded in my 1986 900 Turbo for a 1999 9 5. This will continue our trend of keeping a least one SAAB in our family. The old 1986 was the fourth SAAB my wife and I have owned. We started in 1975 with a used 1973 99 EMS. We later purchased a new 1978 and 1980. Later we purchased the 1986 900 Turbo. Now after 114,000 miles we decided to replace it with a car that has an automatic. Our children are beginning to learn to drive and we feel that it would be easier for them to learn in an automatic. We went to the Milwaukee, Wisconsin Auto Show with an open mind to make a decision on what kind of car to buy. After looking at hundreds of cars, we left with interest in only two cars; the PT Cruiser and the SAAB 900/9 3/9 5. Safety and reliability won out, we went looking for another SAAB. We didn't expect to find a used 9 3/9 5 but we did. We just purchased a used 1999 9 5. It feels very refined in comparison to the 900 Turbo. The 900 Turbo is fun and fast, the 9 5 is smooth and .......I guess I'm not used to it yet......
