9-3 vs. 900 (N/G)
Posted by Richard Gould (more from Richard Gould) on Tue, 18 Apr 2000 22:15:35
There has been plenty of discussion on this already I suppose. But I
just drove a 9-3 loaner while my ailing 900S is healing in the shop
(again).

I drove the 9-3 from Halifax to Wolfville (about 80 km or so) and have
spent about 2 hours in it. It's definitely a vast improvement over the
N/G 900. It has better suspension and handling and there are a number
of interior improvements - except why did they remove the lovely analog
clock? The car is incredibly quiet too compared to my 900S. It was
never this quiet or solid feeling.

Still I think that my days as a SAAB owner are numbered. My 900S has
been far too unreliable and is a tad unrefined for the price. The new
9-3 is intriguing but I wouldn't mind a bit more space - especially
width. I must confess that I am looking longingly at the Acura 3.2
sedan - beautifully put together, rock solid quality and reliability and
great resale and I can get the damn thing fixed far more conveniently.
It's also not a GM.
