Cut the thin metal (or plastic ty-wrap) band that goes around the rubber bellows where it attaches to the stub axle behind the brake backing plate. Slid the boot back and eyeball the CV joint.
To replace it you'll need to remove the axle from the car, but I'm not familiar with the particulars of the 9000.
