windshield replacement
Posted by andrew m. boardman (more from andrew m. boardman) on Thu, 4 May 2000 09:45:32
I've just taken a stroll through the archives, and found not one message about C900 windshield replacement. The service manual procedure looks entirely straightforward, though, so I'm assuming that the reality is equally straightforward and thus no one has ever *needed* to discuss the rigors of windshield replacement.
If, however, I am foolishly rushing towards my doom, I'd appreciate any words of wisdom from the voices of experience!
cheers, andrew

It's a perfect match, we stock it by the case for this reason alone. Does real well on exhausts too, if you coat lightly and let it dry, and paint on a low humidity day. It will initially turn brown for a few minutes on the exhaust, but then come back silver. Looks almost like powder coating. I've used it on cars during services for years, mine has been two years since it was painted and it still hasn't flaked off the manifold or turbo. Won't stay on the down pipe as long though. Thicker coats come off faster for some reason. On the rims, it gets dull if you let the brake dust sit on it for long and with repeated cleaning with something strong enough to remove accumulated brake dust. But new rims are just a spray away. ;-)
