in my experience, rotors that are cross drilled or slotted only offer the advantage of better braking in repeated hard stops. these rotors retain less heat, so there is less 'brake fade.' however, most of us do not have a problem with brake fade, unless we are performing severe stops again and again in a short period of time. most of us , i say ;-)
i dont think there is any advantage in terms of longevity.
i believe that the general preference on the list a few years ago when this came up was for high quality standard rotors from a manufarturer like Brembo (use vented rotors for the front ofcourse). As I recall, many list members have not had success with rotors from the SAAB dealers (, though i think people said they did well with the SAAB-supplied pads).
http://www.brembo.com/oem_deal.html lists suppliers, but i know some people
on the peugeot list found them somewhere at discounted prices. the import parts place in our area sells them at a fair price.
my 86 9000 T has had the same rotors for at least the last eight years with no trouble (but i wasnt the one that replaced them, so i cant say which brand they are. sorry. whatever they are, they are good.)
