One less 900...
Posted by Michael Wendle (more from Michael Wendle) on Sat, 1 Jul 2000 09:52:14
When the lease expired on my wife's '95 900S 5-door, we looked at the = market value vs. the offered purchase price. Interestingly enough, the = offered price was $9,700 vs. $12,400 residual value in the lease = contract. Two dealers told me the market value (wholesale) would be in = the $8,500 ballpark. Given the reliability problems we'd experienced, = most notably an engine replacement at 60K miles, we returned the car to = the leasing company.
We replaced the car with a 1999 Passat 1.8L turbo with Tiptronic. So = far, my wife is happy with it. I've driven the car very little, but = will be taking a trip soon, so I'll get to know it better.
My '90 900 3 door continues to hum along at 132K miles, so hopefully I = can continue as a member of the SAAB family for a while longer. =20
Good driving to all!
